12 Days 11 Nights Korea Itinerary – Part 8

Day 9 – 18 Jan 2014

Early morning we set off to the Noryangjin Fish Market, a must go if you are seafood lover.
Noryangjin Fish Market
Address: Noryangjin 1(il)-dong, Seoul, South Korea
Nearest Station: Noryangjin Station (Exit 1) Cross the overhead bridge and you will reach the market

Upon arrival, we scan through the stalls and decide what sort of seafood we would like to have. There are plenty of stalls and some ahjumas do speak in mandarin. You must bargain and bargain for better price.

As you walk along there are resturants available at level 2 where you can pay a small amount of fees to let them prepare and cook for you. I actually bargain for more free coke. We have 8 of us, they offer us 4 bottles of coke, and i request for at least 6 and successful bargain!

We decided to get 2 crabs, some abalone, scallops, huge tiger prawns and A must try experience of tasting live octopus, they are selling 3 for 10k won, but i bargain for free 1 octopus and ahjuma given it to me. I couldnt We got the crab for about $40sgd each, which is cheaper than in singapore, we also bought a sashimi platter and osyters (10k won per plate from another stall). We were guide up to the resturant, and they will ask how you want your seafood to be done. No preparation fee for Sashimi. We had one crab steam and another in spicy soup. It was our mistake to grilled the scallops and eat abalone raw. It should be the other way round, Scallop sashimi and abalone grilled, luckily we only took 2 of the abalone to try sashimi. Raw abalone taste rubbery. But the tiger prawn is really huge. Highly recommend not to miss Noryanjin Fish Market in Seoul.

It is not expensive to dine in here and is really a good experience to taste on the live octopus. Personally as a season lover and like to eat raw food, live octopus arent scary just normal and a new achievement unlocked.

After we had a satisfying brunch, we decided to take train to Insadong. At the bridge there is an uncle doing name stamp and we each paid 10k won for one chop that of our chinese character name.
