Brand of Petrol in Singapore
In Singapore the commonly seen petrol stations are Shell, Esso, Caltex, SPC.
If you are the driver, you will need to know where to pump and what is the best credit card to pay. The elderly, will usually use nets to pay but do you know you can earn rebated using credit card.
Credit cards that partner with the petrol stations as follow:
Shell : Citibank, UOB, HSBC
Esso: OCBC, Citibank
Caltex: OCBC, Standard Chartered, HSBC, Safra
SPC: POSB, UOB
For Shell, apply for the shell escape card by Pick up a Shell Escape Card from any Shell station and register online. Shell points can offset bill. 1100 points to offset $40. or 300 points to offset $10.
For Esso, apply for the smiles card by pick up a smiles point card from any Esso station and register on form or online. Esso points for redemption for ntuc vouchers or umbrellas.
You will decide what petrol station is near your residential area or office are. I use to pump esso for the past 6 years and lately i have change to shell as I had the $300 worth of shell escape points in the car given by borneo motors.
The price across the petrol station doesnt varies much since i pump for 95. They call Extra for esso. is range $2.1 per litre.
Use of Credit Card in Singapore OCBC
When i pump for Esso, I will use OCBC 365, as it entitled me 14% onsite discount and a additional of 5% rebate to my credit card. Because i will spend $600 per month on the card. More about OCBC 365, 3% Cashback on Weekday and Overseas Dining, Grocery and Recurring Telecommunications bills, and all Online spend, 6% Cashback on Weekend Dining, 0.3% for others.
If you have meet the spending of each calendar year, they will auto waive the annual fee. Otherwise is hard to get waiver from OCBC. Be it annual fee or late payment charges and interest.

Use of Credit Card in Singapore Citibank
When i change to shell, i decided to sign up Citibank credit card. Which i see the most beneficial one among the other bank card. Sign up Citibank card now to get $120 Cash back when you apply for a Citi Credit Card and spend $200 for 6 consecutive months, each month $20 rebate will be given.
I choose the premiermiles card, annual fee can waive off, but if you pay, they will issue you 10,000 miles if you renew. Whats more, i actually go after the miles since i travel and priority pass for me to access airport lounge.

This Citibank card comes into good use as while i spend i can earn miles. If you are not changing the miles, you can change for rebate. for 1400 miles, you can redeem for $10.
No problem in waiving the annual fee and finance charges.

Use of Credit Card in Singapore AMEX True Cashback
Usually, i will choose to use AMEX true cash back for retail spending for 1.5% rebate, 3% Cashback for the first 6 months up to $5000 spend, last time use to be 5% and they had revised. I use this card to pay for my banquet. Together with UOB one card.
The customer service from amex is really good and no problem of waiving the annual fee or any late payment.

Use of Credit Card in Singapore UOB ONE CARD
UOB One card has Up to 5% cash rebate on all spend for spend above S$2,000/month per quarter (up to 3.33% cash rebate for spend of $500 or $1,000 monthly)
I actually no longer using this UOB one card, but im still holding to UOB metro card because shopping in metro can have 10% discount and additional 5% rebate. The rebate are points to redeem for metro voucher. Waiver and cancelling of card is through the operator so is quite convenient.

However, there are places that does not accept amex. And OCBC doesnt have much rebate for retail and i will ended up of 0.3% and CItibank card comes into place. Im using it to pay for my invisalign.
