I had my first pregnancy journey started in June 2022, for those who are conceiving, or have already coneived hope my post are useful to you.
What to do after tested positive for pregnancy?
First thing to consider is to shortlist for a reliable and value for money gynae through out the pregnancy till delivery.
My friend recommended me to Dr Khoo Chong Kiat, what i did was simply go to xiao hong shu to check it out and seems like he rather popular gynae in singapore. So decided to go with him believing i will be in good hands.
Dr Khoo Chong Kiat clinic information details as follow:
CK Khoo Clinic for Women & Laparoscopy
Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre
Singapore 329563
After selecting gynae, it will be great to consider your delivery method, either natural via vaginal delivery or C-sect.
Personally i opt for C-sect and i highly recommend choose whichever you are comfortable with and prepared for. Every individual are different there is no wrong or right when come to selecting how you want to delivery your child. Most importantly which hospital you would like to delivery in.
Most common hospitals for delivery are:
KK Hospital
Address: 100 Bukit Timah Rd, Singapore 229899
Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital
Address: 38 Irrawaddy Rd, Singapore 329563
Mount Elizabeth Orchard Hospital
Address: 3 Mount Elizabeth, Singapore 228510
Thomson Medical Centre
Address: 339 Thomson Rd, Singapore 307677
Gleneagles Hospital
Address: 6A Napier Rd, Singapore 258500
Mount Alvernia
Address: 820 Thomson Road, Singapore 57462
Each gynae have their designated hospital for delivery, Dr khoo himself will be able to deliver at Mt Elizabeth Novena, Thomson Medical Centre and Mount Alvernia. While his wife is with KKH.
I will be sharing the total cost & timeline in another post.
Why i opt for C-section over vaginal delivery.
Many mums or mum to be will primary option for delivery method will be natural for various reason such as, going through and have the “feel” of delivery. while many will say normal delivery will allow them to recover faster, lesser stay in hospital and of course the cost is definitely the lowest.
While for myself, i have a different thought, since every individual is different, i only speak for myself and my opinion. When it comes to pain tolerance, is really subject to individual so is for reference only when you hear from someone else. You only get to have the real taste yourself after going through it.
Some mummy doesnt want to take epidural because of the concern of the side effect while some would share how thick the needle is. I only have reason, that is i do not want to participate in the waiting game!
Well, I do not wish to go into a long wait, going thru dilation pain. We never know how long will labor takes. While some lucky ones less than an hour or juz a few hours? while some went through more than 8 hours of labor or even longer. What can be worst? is that when you gynae assess that you could no longer go for natural and required emergency c-sect? Then you got to pay for “both course meal”.
I prefer to manage my risk and have it well-planned if possible. Of course, there are cases where you think you are well-prepared, surprises will just come to you. Such as you may go through dilation in the event of your water bag broke in the middle of the night?( thats what happen to my dear friend carry twins inside, they couldnt wait for another 8 hours for their schedule time)
So is always your choice to make, as long as you are comfortable with. I will share more on my c-sect experience in another post. But what i can conclude is, C-sect was definitely great for me. I dont feel any pain at all going through c-sect, even after discharge, recovery doesnt seem to be slow or bad either. I feel back to normal in less than a week after delivered and no pain felt. Thanks to Dr Khoo and Dr David Woo (anesthesiologist) 0 pain when he anesthesia jab on my back. Absolutely Unbelievable! My scar was great too.
